Rylee K. hackley

I am a microbiologist and genomicist broadly interested in understanding how natural variation at the genetic and transcriptional levels contributes to phenotypic diversity.

I recently completed my Ph.D. in the University Program in Genetics and Genomics at Duke University, working with Professor Amy Schmid. I used multi-omics approaches and classical genetics to study the regulatory variation of carbon metabolism in salt-adapted archaea. Currently, I am working with Dr. Steve Bell at Indiana University using long-read sequencing to identify chromosome structural variation in thermoacidophiles.

I am passionate about rigorous and statistically appropriate next generation sequencing analysis and creating intuitive data visualizations.
